Jesus Marquez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Jesus P. Marquez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Marquez, 76, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Fr. Martin Cornejo SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor Peralta, Robert Jacob Silvas, Xavier Marquez, Eric Marquez, Henry Marquezand, and Joe Angel Marquez.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Jesus was born December 3, 1937 in Barrancos De Guadalupe, Mexico the son of Silvester Marquez and Carmen Padron Marquez.

On May 16, 1958 he was married to Manuela Acosta in Barrancos, Mexico. They came to Artesia in 1982 from Mexico.

Jesus was a floor hand and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and dancing.

He was preceded in death by parents.

Survivors include his wife Manuela Marquez of the family home daughters Irma Peralta of Andrews, Texas, Angie Marquez of Oklahoma, Maria Silvas of Artesia, and Bertha Marquez of Ft. Stockton, Texas sons Martin Marquez, Manuel Marquez, Israel Marquez, Robert Marquez, and Jose Marquez, Jr. all of Andrews, Texas 23 grandchildren 20 greatgrandchildren brothers Juan Marquez, Socorro Marquez, Octavio Marquez, and Valin Marquez sisters Juana Marquez, and Martina Marquez numerous nieces and nephews.
