Jesse Mendenhall

Graveside services are scheduled at 1:00 PM Monday, March 31, at Woodbine Cemetery for Jesse Dale Mendenhall, 13 W. Jerry Drive, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Mendenhall, 52, died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at his home. Rev. Mark Robinson will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Stanley Davis, Rufus Brown, Gary Fanning, Don Sallee, Jimmy Herring, and Don Reynolds. Mr. Mendenhall was born February 28, 1951 in Scotia, California; the son of Willard Jesse Mendenhall and Lorena Watson Mendenhall. On May 7,1977 he was married to Karen Poindexter in Carlsbad, NM. He was a longtime Artesia resident. He was a cowboy and welder. He was a member of the Baptist denomination, President of the Bowmasters Archery Club, past member Artesia Gun Club. He was preceded in death by his mother Lorena Derrick, step-father Millard Derrick, and foster dad Simon Slick Watson. Survivors include his wife Karen Mendenhall of the family home; foster mother Lois Watson of Artesia; daughter Jessica Dawn Hartley and husband Kevin of Artesia; son Luke Mendenhall of the family home; step-daughter Sabrina Ferguson of Clovis, NM; brothers Ernie Stevenson and wife Effie of Rowlette, Texas, and Lewis Derrick and wife Rita of Artesia; foster brother Jerry Watson of Colorado; 1 step-sister Joyce Andrews and husband Archie of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughters Sierra KLynn Ferguson of Clovis.
