Jerry Ramsey

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, April 29, at Woodbine Cemetery for Jerry Luan Ramsey of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Ramsey, 86, died on April 19, 2022 in Artesia.

Pastor Rick Smith will officiate at the services.

Jerry was born on May 16, 1935 in Vaughn, New Mexico; the daughter of Earl Welburn Collins and Katie Jane Yocum. She graduated in 1953 from Hot Springs High School, also known as Truth or Consequences. She married Eugene D. Ramsey Sr on July 1, 1953.

She was blessed with four children, Jeannie Lou Ramsey, Roger Wade Ramsey and wife Judy, Earl Dee Ramsey and wife Lea, and John Russell Ramsey and wife Audrey. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 29, 1983. Also by brothers Jess Collins, Lewis Collins, Fred Collins, Gene Collins and Pete Collins, and by sisters Johnny Cooper, Lois Watson and Helen Rogers.

Jerry moved to Artesia in 1979 from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She became involved at the Roadrunner Extension Club and also Senior activities and craft club.

She baby sat numerous kids and ran a day care for 2 years. She moved to being a teacher's aide for six years and then retired. She stayed with the Senior Center and did crafts, sales, Tops, and garage sales.

Jerry has been a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for ten years. She will be missed by all of her family, friends, and church family.
