Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Jerry Lee Evans of Midland, Texas. Mr. Evans, 84, died Friday, October 5, 2007 at his home in Midland. Bobby Argo will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Wade McFatridge, Frank Devine, Jerold Whitlock, Jerry Cass, Duncan Whitlock, and Norman Whitlock. Pallbearers and Military Honors will be provided by the Artesia Fire Department. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Evans was born October 29, 1922 in Fairfield, Nebraska; the son of James Lee Evans and Edith Monismith Evans. On November 13, 1942 he was married to Eva Graham in Carlsbad, N.M. He came to Artesia in 1935 from Monte Vista, Colorado. He was a long time Artesia resident until moving just recently to Midland. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Owner and Operator of Evans Floor Company for 25 years before retiring at the age of 62. Jerry has many friends in Artesia and enjoyed his friends at BB. In the last days he enjoyed making silver jewelry and metal detecting, exploring the desert and mountains with his son Paul and Jeep. He also enjoyed spending time with his daughter and her husband. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Ronald Evans. Survivors include his wife Eva Evans of Midland; son Paul Evans of Carlsbad; daughter Patsy Evans Wiggleton and husband Bill of Midland; grandchildren Lisa Wiggleton of San Diego, California, and Dana Curdy and husband Robert of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren Samuel and Julietta.
