Jennie Baer

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Woodbine Cemetery, for Jennie Lee Cherry Baer, 1003 Runyan Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Baer, 52, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at her home.

Jennie was born November 24, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona the daughter of Hugh Kenneth Cherry and Virginia Lee Gabbert Cherry. She was a longtime resident of Artesia.

On October 10, 2010 she was married to Rick Baer in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the birthday of her paternal grandmother, Geneva B. Lazenby Cherry who was born in 1910.

She was a breast cancer survivor and was very proud of this fact. Her death is a shock to all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by a grandson whom she is raising, Jayden Lee Cherry by her son Hugh Kenneth Cherry II of Sherman, Texas daughter Penny Lee Cherry, Deena Baer and Derrick Baer all of Artesia.

Jennie was Mema to 7 grandchildren, Shawn, Jayden, Jennica, Leeann, Jackson, Hayden, and Katilynn. She also has numerous nieces and nephews and their children who called her Aunt Mema and Aunt Jennie.

Surviving siblings include Anita Kathleen Cherry of Payson, Arizona, Tommie Laraine Cherry Beck and husband Wayne of Wichita Falls, Texas, Howard Keith Cherry and wife Tammie of Phoenix, Arizona, Kim Henderson Harrison and husband Joe of Des Moines, Iowa, Gary Hall of Apple Valley, California, and mother Virginia Lee Gabbert Henderson of Albia, Iowa.

Jennie worked with her husband for Big Bear Enterprises LLC she was a very giving and loving person. She will be truly missed by all that knew her. She was a great cook and spent many hours cooking for her family and those whom she loved to spend time with. She loved traveling and would go on cruises, camping trips with her husband and their best friends Carla and Charlie Carter at a moments notice.

Jennie loved life, her family and friends and made the most of each moment. We love you Jennie.
