Jeff Bratcher

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 28, at Hermosa Drive Church of Christ for Jeff Orval Bratcher, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Bratcher, 90, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at his home. Michael Joiner and Roby Zumwalt will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Bratcher, Jason Bratcher, Terry McMaster, Roy Johnson, Don Calved, James Maupin, Homer Mahan and Albert Lewis. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Bratcher was born October 10, 1914 in Era, Texas; the son of Thomas Jefferson Bratcher and Lillie Hughes Bratcher. On Jan. 12, 1946 he was married to Lillian Juanita Woodard in Amarillo, Texas. He came to Artesia in 1947 from Corpus Christi, Texas. She preceded him in death Nov. 18, 2004. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a Farmer in Cottonwood until 1974, owned All Purpose Ice Co., and was a Realtor for 12 years. He was a member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ, Sheriffs Posse, Fair Board and had a great hand in building the Fair Building, member Farm Bureau, and raised appaloosa show horses. Survivors include sons Gary Bratcher and wife Jeanette of Decatur, Texas, and Ronnie Bratcher and wife Cheryl of Artesia; daughter Anita Hoyle and husband Lynn of Artesia; brothers Burnice Bratcher of Artesia, Glenn D. Bratcher of Washington, D.C. Alton Bratcher of Artesia, Carlton Bratcher of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Homer Bratcher of Las Cruces, N.M.; sisters Margie Neal of Andrews, Texas, and Mildred Ward of Dallas, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 10 reat-grandchildren.
