Jeanne Bruce

December 26, 1929 — October 25, 2005

Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 at Advent United Methodist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada for former Artesia resident Jeanne Bruce of Las Vegas. Jeanne died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005 in Las Vegas. She was born on Dec. 26, 1929 in Pampa, Texas to Maude and Arthur Thibodeaux. She graduated from Amarillo High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from West Texas A M University in Canyon, Texas. She married Charles Bruce August 25, 1950 at Polk Street Methodist Church in Amarillo. Jeanne and Charles began their teaching careers in Goodnight, Texas. From there, they moved to Loco Hills, N.M. and on to Artesia where Jeanne taught over 25 years. After retiring and moving to Las Vegas in 1995, she taught and substituted at the Meadow School until the last year of her life. She never lost her passion for teaching or learning, and was extremely proud that all of her daughters chose teaching as their profession. We will miss seeing her smile and hearing her play the music she so loved. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles of Las Vegas; daughters Melanie Masek and husband Mike of Flagstaff, Ariz., Shelly Kerr of Amarillo, Texas, and Melissa Wolfbrandt and husband Carl of Las Vegas; grandchildren Kacy Crosson, who is serving in Iraq with part of the 101st Airborne and wife Michelle of Forsythe, Ga., and Carly Wolfbrandt of Las Vegas; great-grandchildren Laney Crosson and Jayla Crosson of Forsyth; and brothers Arthur Thibodeaux, Jr. and wife Greta of Amarillo and Jake Thibodeaux of Seattle, Wash. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Meadows School, 8601 Scholar Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89128.
