Jeanie Maurine Smith, 61, of Alto, New Mexico finished the race of life, and passed from this earthly world into her heavenly home, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.
Jeanie was born on October 7, 1959 in Seminole, Texas. She was married to the love of her life, Russell C. Smith (Rusty) for 42 years.
Jeanie proudly committed 19 years as a 2nd grade Yeso Elementary school teacher in the Artesia Public Schools. She was dedicated to her students, her colleagues, and truly loved knowing that she made a difference in the lives of so many people. After retirement, Jeanie pursued a lifelong passion for quilting.
Surviving Mrs. Smith, is her husband Rusty Smith, her daughter Brooke Smith of Lubbock, Texas, her son Brett Smith, and his wife Heather, of Lubbock, Texas, Seven Grandchildren, Chloe, Leland, Caisen, Diem, Rustin, Kadence, and Landon, who were her whole world. Also surviving Jeanie is her sister Karen Killgore and husband Ronnie, her brother Billy Walters and wife Jennie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, along with so many close family and friends who knew and loved her.
Jeanie had an unshakable faith, and fought through the battles in life with such grace. She was truly a good and faithful servant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris McDonald and W.L. McDonald.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Monday, March 15, 2021, at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, NM. Visitation will be at Terpening and Son Mortuary in Artesia, NM on Sunday, March 14, 2021 between the hours of 3pm and 5pm.
