Jean Binkley, 79, passed away November 19, 2020 at her home, Artesia Goodlife Senior Living, where she was blessed with many people who loved her dearly.
No public services or viewings are scheduled due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Willie “Jean” Binkley was born on October 28, 1941 in Shamrock, Texas to Alton Brown and Olean Brown. Her father died a decorated death in action during World War II, and her mother was remarried to Johnny Grisham, who was like a father to her.
She met the love of her life, David Wayne Binkley and they were married on November 6, 1964. They came to Artesia in 1992 from Midland, TX then moved to Lake Palestine, TX in 2006, to Lubbock in 2014 and finally back to Artesia to be close to her kids in 2015 when David passed away.
Jean was blessed with four wonderful children, Jay Mead, who passed away in 2018, Rhonda Binkley, who died as an infant, Sherri Pitts, who lives in Artesia with her husband Scott, and JD Binkley, who also lives in Artesia with his wife Penelope.
Jean loved all of her “kids” which include her grandchildren, Jennifer Willhelm and husband Robert of Artesia, Jake Pitts and wife Desarae of Artesia, JJ Fafrak of Artesia and Dalton Binkley of Portales NM and also her great-grandkids, Lexi Willhelm, Reagan Pitts, Ryan Willhelm, Bentley Pitts, and Natalie Jean Willhelm
She enjoyed the companionship of her two sweet dogs, Honey Bear the poodle and Kiki the maltese, who she will get to love on again in Heaven.
Jean was an avid crafter who especially enjoyed oil painting and crochet. She enjoyed time in her garden, and was particularly proud of her rose bushes. She loved to fish and LOVED visiting the casino.
