Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, January 16, at Hermosa Church of Christ for Janice Jean McReynolds Murphy of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Murphy, 77, died on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at her home.
Dean Bryce will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Eddie Mitchell, Brian Murphy, Jon Ross and Mike Prude.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Janice was born on April 26, 1939 in Morrilton, Arkansas; the daughter of Emmett Ross McReynolds and Nina Dee Massingill McReynolds. On May 25, 1958 she was married to Talmadge "Tally" Murphy in Morrilton. They came to Artesia in July of 2012 from Jal, New Mexico.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Hermosa Church of Christ. She taught bible class for many years and enjoyed decorating, crafting, loving on her grandkids, and Christmas was her favorite holiday.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Cindy Murphy.
She is survived by her husband Talmadge "Tally" Murphy of Artesia; son Ken Murphy and wife Amy of Artesia; daughter Kerrie Mitchell and husband Eddie of Hobbs, N.M.; grandchildren Lee Mitchell and wife Melissa, Cody Mitchell and Amanda Murphy; great-grandchild Norah Mitchell.
Memorial donations may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home or the Hermosa Church of Christ Ethiopian Water Well Fund.
