Memorial service scheduled for 10am Saturday, August 14th at Terpening and Son Mortuary Artesia, NM

James Edward Porter was born in Los Angeles, California at University Hospital to Brenda Joyce Young and Frank Earl Porter.

James was brought to Artesia, New Mexico at an early age by his father. He grew up to be a loving and caring young man whom everyone loved and admired. James attended Yucca Street School,  Park Jr. High School and from there, Artesia High School. He also attended New Mexico Jr. College in Hobbs.

It’s so sad that James had to leave us so soon. James is survived by his mother, Brenda J. Young- Guillen of Los Angeles,his step-father, Carmelo Guillen of Chihuahua, Mexico, Sister, Margaret Young of San Diego, and her husband Lester Addison of San Diego, California. Also by James’ three sons, James Porter III, Isaiah Porter, and baby Quinton of Tucson, Arizona, his niece, Leslie Addison of Palmdale, California, grandniece, Nia Miahmorrow of Palmdale, California, his uncle Larry Young of Alescadero, California, grandnephew, Jouan Lee and Michael Norman of Las Vegas, Nevada. Michael and Angel Acosta, Step-Sister Sonia (Kimmi) Acosta, nieces Jasmine, Aaliyah. Aunts Hayward Mae Mitchell of Ft. Worth, Texas, Denise Clouclough of Artesia, New Mexico, his awesome Auntee, Wanda Lawson of Artesia, New Mexico. Bobby Lee Wilder, M.C. Wilder, and close friends Joy Cornett Stephine.

Just to name a few cousins: Trisha Ann Wright, Teresa Ann Richardson of Ft. Worth, Texas and Tonya Wright of Casa Grande, Arizona. Amy Clouclough, Luther Clouclough Jr. of Artesia, New Mexico.

James started his landscaping business in Tucson, Arizona and was a darn good landscaper. People loved him from all around.
