James Kalas

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for James R. Kalas of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Kalas, 65, died on July 14, 2021 at his home in Artesia.
Father Vijay will officiate at the services. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Monday from 2 pm to 6 pm. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 am on Tuesday.
James was born on November 12, 1955 in Albuquerque, New Mexico; the son of James Chris Kalas and JoAnn Ruth Meheny Kalas.
On January 31, 1990 he was married to Martha Madrid in Albuquerque. They came to Artesia in 2003 from Gallup, New Mexico.
James was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and loved to bowl and play pool. He never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Chris Kalas.
Survivors include his wife Martha Kalas of the family home; his mother JoAnn Kalas; a son Edward Kalas and Tao Michelle Colwell of Artesia; a sister Barbara Smith and husband David of Los Lunas, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
