James Hooker

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for James Audie Hooker, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Hooker, 75, died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia. Fr. Benedict Folger will officiate at the services. Mr. Hooker was born August 23, 1927 in Prescott, Arkansas; the son of Aud Hooker and Clara Blevins Hooker. On May 20, 1948 he was married to Winifred Robben in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He came to Artesia in 1955. He served in the Army during WW II. He was a welder for Amax Potash Mines. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and was a Mounted Military Police officer in the United States Army at Ft. Belvoir Virginia in 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, a daughter Mary Kathleen, and a grandson Ty Hughes. Survivors include his wife Winifred Hooker of the family home; daughters Jennifer Hughes and husband Dale of Artesia, and Leslie Noel and husband John of Copperas Cove, Texas; Surrogate daughter and care giver Kate Perez of Artesia; brother Billy King of Prescott, Arkansas; grandchildren Justin Hughes and wife LeAnna of Artesia, Sarah Noel and John David Noel of Copperas Cove; great-grandchildren Brittini and Maigan.
