James Wallace

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 pm Thursday, November 30, at Faith Baptist Church for James E. "Hunkey" Wallace of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Wallace, 85, died on November 27, 2023 in Artesia.

Michael Elliott will officiate at the services. Cremation will take place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Hunkey was born on January 31, 1938 in Crosbyton, Texas; the son of James Quincy Wallace and Cordelia Drake Wallace. On March 12, 1956 he was married to Faye Parker in Artesia.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all storytelling. He raised and showed Appaloosa horses for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Neal Wallace, grandson Brad Duncan, and sisters Betty Rollins and Linda Manry.

Survivors include his wife Faye Wallace; children Patty and Robert Duncan, Blaine and Cynthia Wallace, and Janine Wallace; a brother Eddie and Debbie Wallace; a sister Jennifer and George Chase; grandchildren Ross and Kandice Duncan, Josh Wallace, Trevor Starkey, Christopher and Nicole Wallace, Jacqueline Wallace, Kiana Wallace, and Trenton Cumpton; great-grandchildren Nykol Duncan, Bradley Duncan, Dailyn Wallace, Sophia Thompson, Kinslee Thompson, Hope Wallace, Abriena Morgan, Zathan Wallace and Braxton Starkey.
