James Cosper

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 5, at First United Methodist Church for James 0dell Skeet Cosper, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Cosper, 80, died Friday, May 2, 2003 in Lubbock, Texas. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites. Pallbearers will be grandsons Nick Williams and Danny Cosper and friends Bob Plummer, Gail Lamb, Larry Wood, Carl Rogers, and Steve Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Swift, Vance Haldeman, Vernon Haldeman, and Vic Haldeman. Skeet was born April 7, 1923 in Tell, Texas; the son of Bud Cosper and Carrie Lee Cosper. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He and his family came to Artesia from Clovis, N.M. He was a retired dry cleaner and member of First United Methodist Church. He was a life-member of Artesia Elks Lodge 28; a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Cosper was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother Floyd Cosper. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Cosper of the family home; a son Dan Cosper and wife Mary of Carlsbad, N.M.; a daughter Joni Webb and husband Jim of Heath, Ohio; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kathy Cosper of Mississippi; and special family friend, Favi Sotello and son James of Artesia.
