James Blevins

Memorial graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 5, at Woodbine Cemetery for James W. Junior Blevins, 302 N. Fourth St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Blevins, 74, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at his home. Rev. Robert Derrick will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Blevins was born June 19, 1928 in Slide, Texas; the son of James William Blevins and Bertha Gadberry Blevins. He moved to Artesia from Texas as a child. On December 27, 1950 he was married to Bertha L. Strange in Artesia. His wife preceded him in death March 2, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother; two sisters; and a great-granddaughter. He was a farmer and member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include daughters Alberta Ingram and husband David of Artesia and Sandra Tidwell and husband Danny of Artesia; brothers George Blevins of Roswell, N.M. and Calvin Blevins and Kenneth Blevins both of Portales, N.M.; four granddaughters and their husbands; one grandson and his wife; and eight great-grandchildren.
