Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 24 at Terpening & Son Chapel for James B. "Smokey" Adamson of Wolfforth, Texas.
Mr. Adamson, 89, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas.
Galen Isaacs will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
James was born on September 21, 1927 in Brownwood, TX. Following graduation from high school, Smokey worked for Texas New Mexico Pipeline before and for an additional fifteen years following his military service in the U. S. Marine Corps.
On January 11,1951 he married Kathleen Pearson in Katy, Texas. He and Kathleen started Adamson Hot Oil Service in Loco Hills, N.M. They also enjoyed square dancing and travelling in their RV together for many years. Smokey also took time for fishing and hunting. Being a handyman that could fix almost anything, he was always helping others with projects that needed fixing. "Smokey Do's"! as some of his friends called them. After living in Artesia, NM for 45 years, they moved to Wolfforth, Texas in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brainard Huie Adamson and Alice Cravens; a grandson, Chad Adamson; and a brother, Robert Adamson.
James is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Kathleen; son, James Dwight and Elaine Adamson of Artesia, NM; daughter, Scherry and Tom Scarborough of Wolfforth, TX; grandchildren, April Wheelis, Cody Mitt and Jennifer Scarborough, and Benjamin James Scarborough; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Josephine Davis.
