Jake Salas

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Our Lady of Grace Cahtolic Church for Jake Solis Salas, 1005 W. Clayton Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Salas, 62, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at University Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.

Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Salim Carrera, Jonathan Fernandez, Jimmy Salas, Domingo Salas, Imran Sheikh, and Eddie Salas.

A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church.

Jake was born February 28, 1951 in Artesia, New Mexico the son of Ruben Salas and Evangelina Solis Salas. He was a longtime resident of Artesia.

On March 6, 1970 he was married to Mary Balencia in Carlsbad, NM.

He was a cook and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.


He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife Mary Salas of Artesia father Ruben Salas of Artesia sons Ruben Salas of Lubbock, Texas, Chris Salas of Artesia, andJacob Salas of Artesia daughter Melissa Salas of Midland, Texas brother Ruben Salas Jr. of Artesia sisters Linda Martinez of St. Louis, Missouri, Olga Fernandez of Artesia, Christina Sheikh of Carlsbad, NM, Armida Carrera of Artesia, Sylvia Jimenez of Artesia, and Bernice Caldera of Artesia 8 grandchildren.
