Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Mar. 22, at First Baptist Church for Jack Clark Butler, 1408 W. Hermosa Drive, Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Butler, 79, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Artesia General Hospital.
Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery with Veterans Rites. Pallbearers will be grandsons Bowe Butler, Kyle Butler, Tye Butler, Kasey Butler, Kevin Butler, and Blair Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be First Baptist Church Deacons.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Jack was born July 16, 1933 in Bixby, Oklahoma the son of Vonna Clark Butler and Eva May Buchanan Butler.
On July 15, 1954 he was married to Margaret J. Pickerel in Monument, NM. He came to Artesia in August 1970 from Reserve, N.M.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was a Teacher and administrator in the Public Schools. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, member of American Legion, Gideons, and the Retired School Teachers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Margaret Butler of Artesia sons Dwight Clark Butler and wife Kathy of Granbury, Texas, and Keith Allen Butler of Dustin, Florida daughter Melany Gayle Cardwell and husband Greg of Artesia brother Wright Butler of Alamogordo, N.M. sisters Mary Nave of Lovington, N.M., and Sue Pate of Hobbs, N.M. grandchildren Bowe Butler, Kyle Butler, Tye Butler, Kasey Butler, Kevin Butler, Aubany Porter, and Kayla Cardwell greatgrandchildren Hudson and Reece.
