J. Shelton

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 19, at Faith Baptist Church for John Charles Shelton, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Shelton, 76, died Thursday, October 17, 2002 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Rev. Michael Elliott will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert Roark, John Roark Jr., Jerry Sherrell, John Meeks, Joe dEntremont, Jay Bilberry, Sam Blount, and Danny Parker. Mr. Shelton was born December 11, 1925 in Soper, Oklahoma; the son of Willie Emory Shelton and Cora Mae Ferrell Shelton. He came to Artesia in 1937 from Antlers, Oklahoma. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Eddy County Road Department and member of Faith Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Survivors include sister Bessie Briscoe and husband Happy of Carlsbad; brother-in-law John Roark of Roswell, NM; Several nieces and nephews.
