J Roberts

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Woodbine Cemetery for J D Roberts, 1802 Briscoe Avenue, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Roberts, 90, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Artesia General Hospital.

Scott Gray will officiate at the services.

J D was born February 1, 1921 in Antioch, Nebraska the son of Charlie R. Roberts and Bertha Shockley Roberts. He was a longtime resident of Artesia.

On Sept. 27, 1940 he was married to Maxine Littleton Sharp in Dexter, NM. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2000.

On Sept. 28, 2001 he was married to Margaret Meador in Ruidoso Downs, NM.

He served in the United States Air Force during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

He was a Military pilot flying B17, B29, B36 and B52s, and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Roberts of Artesia son Gary C. Roberts of Breckenridge, Texas daughter Rebecca J. Cornfoot of McKinney, Texas grandchildren Julie Anderson of Plano, Texas, and James Andrew Cornfoot of Memphis, Tennessee greatgrandchildren Ashley Anderson and Courtney Anderson of Plano.
