Israel Ortega

Memorial services will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for Israel C. Ortega of Pecos, Texas. Mr. Ortega, 47, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in Pecos. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will take place after the visitation under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mr. Ortega was born February 22, 1959 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of Bernabe Ortega and Maria Chavez Ortega. He was married to Maria Fuentez in Artesia. He was a lifelong resident of the Artesia area before moving to Pecos six months ago. He was a carpenter and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Mary Ortega of Artesia; sons Israel Ortega, Jr. of Lovington, N.M., and Barney Ortega of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters Amanda Barras of Alabama, Marcy Ortega of Artesia, and Rose Fuentez of Artesia; brothers Barney Ortega of Dallas, Texas, Henry Ortega of Las Vegas, N.M., Adolfo Ortega of Artesia, David Ortega of Lovington, N.M., Benito Ortega of Roswell, N.M., and Kelly Ortega of Artesia; sisters Anita Franco of Carlsbad, N.M., Emma Ortega of Lovington, Eva Lopez of Denver, Colorado, and Dominga Rodriguez of Lovington; and three grandchildren.
