Ismael Leyva

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7 at Terpening Son Mortuary for Ismael M. Leyva, 2204 W. Briscoe Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Leyva, 60, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Artesia General Hospital. Ervey Dominguez will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Anaya, Manuel Acosta, Chindo Martinez, Omar Carrasco, David De La Rosa, William Briscoe, Luis Carrasco, and Jesse Acosta. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Friends may call on the family at 1106 W. Centre Ave. Ismael Leyva was born March 31, 1945 in Artesia; the son of Clotilde Leyva and Maria Molina Leyva. His parents preceded him in death. On March 15, 1973 he was married to Alyce Hernandez in Carlsbad, N.M. He was an operator at Navajo Refinery and served in the National Guard for fifteen years. He attended the Jehovah's Witnesses church. Survivors include his wife Alyce Leyva of the family home; sons Sy Leyva and Edwin Leyva both of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter Lori Ann Ramirez of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister Sylvia Carrillo of Artesia; and grandchildren Jay Hernandez and Irene Ramirez both of Phoenix.
