Ismael Alvarado

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 15, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Ismael Garcia Alvarado of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Alvarado, 91, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell, New Mexico.

Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Alvarado, Fermin Alvarado, Jeff Lara, Jason Lara, Ethan Alvarado, and Jonathan Tibbett. Honorary pallbearers will be Kali A. Alvarado, and Jennie A. Javeed.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Friday beginning at 4:00 p.m. A rosary will be at church Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Ismael was born September 12, 1923 in Carlsbad, New Mexico the son of Jose Alvarado and Bonifacia Garcia Alvarado. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

On February 14, 1944 he was married to Angelita Gonzales in Artesia.

Ismael was a CoOwnerOperator of Alvarado Farms and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was a Crucillista, and a member of the Artesia Alfalfa Growers Association. Ismael also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Herminia A. Lopez and Consuelo Lopez.

Survivors include his wife Angelita G. Alvarado of the family home sons Ismael G. Alvarado, Jr. and wife Jesusita of Artesia, and Ector G. Alvarado and wife Catherine of Santa Fe, N.M. daughters Oralia A. Lara and husband Joe of Carlsbad, N.M., and Ida A. Rubio and husband Avelardo of Artesia brother Jose Joe Alvarado and wife Cruz of Artesia 9 grandchildren 17 greatgrandchildren and 1 greatgreatgrandchild.
