Isabel Garcia

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Isabel Aguirre Garcia of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Garcia, 82, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at his sons home.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Muniz, Gavino Saiz, Anthony Garcia, Luis Garcia Jr., Felix Garcia Jr.Robert Rodriguez, Raymond Rodriguez, Emilio Garcia, Jaiden Garcia, Jonathan Garcia and Joshua Muniz.

A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 13, at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening and Son Mortuary beginning at 10 am Tuesday.

Isabel was born July 8, 1931 in Terlingua, Texas, the son of Luis Garcia and Felipa Aguirre Garcia. He was a longtime Artesia resident.

On Oct. 2, 1955 he was married to Eufrasia Herrera in Artesia, NM. She preceded him in death Oct. 6, 1998.

Mr. Garcia served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a retired Vietnam Veteran.

He was a heavy equipment operator for the Eddy County Road Department and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents, brother Seferino Garcia, sister Josefa Garcia and a grandson Frank Muniz Jr.

Survivors include a son Louis Gracia Sr. and wife Rosie of Artesia daughter Kathy Muniz and husband Frank of Artesia brother Felix Garcia and wife Lucy of Artesia sisters Flora Garcia of Artesia, Margie Rodriguz of Artesia, Chabela Trevino of Artesia, and Feliciana Huerta and husband Franscico of Artesia grandchildren Anthony Garcia and wife Lori of Hobbs, NM, Erica Natera and husband Sammy of Odessa, Texas, Luis Gracia Jr. and wife Katherine of Artesia, Carmen Saiz and husband Sal of Artesia, Mark Muniz and wife Becky of Artesia, Crystal Ortigoza and husband Tim of Artesia, and Joshua Muniz and wife Stephanie of Artesia 25 greatgrandchildren and 1 greatgreatgrandson. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents, brother Seferino Garcia, sister Josefa Garcia and a grandson Frank Muniz Jr.
