Irene Hammett

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Woodbine Cemetery for Irene G. Hammett, 405 Shelton Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Hammett, 91, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at her home. Pastor Ed Kneeland will officiate at the services. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Hammett was born March 30, 1916 in Friendly, W.Virginia; the daughter of Oak H. Stewart and Mary RachelMooreStewart. On July 10, 1937 she was married to Charles F. Hammett in Friendly, W.V. She came to Artesia in 1942 from Friendly. He preceded her in death Mar. 29, 1989. She was a homemaker and member of the Nazarene Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter Selma Ruth Hammett. Survivors include a son C. Brent Hammett and wife Cindy of Artesia; daughter Ellen Gail Agan of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren John Paul Hammett, Sarah Beth Hammett and Isaac Agan.
