Irene Giles

No services are scheduled for Irene Giles, 8334 Cherokee Rd., Lake Arthur, New Mexico. Mrs. Giles, 72, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. Mexico. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Giles was born August 29, 1936 in Cortez, Colorado; the daughter of Charles Marsell and Carrie Chandler Marsell. In 1951 she was married to Jack Giles in Farmington, NM. She was a longtime area resident. He preceded her in death December 1999. She was a bartender at the Mint Lounge in Artesia. She was very active in the Best Friends Dog Refuge in Canabe, Utah and loved all animals. She was well known for her joke telling and worked at the Moonlight and Bobs Place in Wyoming for a total of 32 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Charles M. Bro Giles, and 4 brothers. Survivors include son James V. Teence Giles of Roswell, N.M.; daughter-in-law Sonya Sneathen of Artesia, N.M.; sister Eileen Hemby Vann of Lake Arthur; grandchildren Jason, Sabrina and Heather Giles; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
