Irene Carter

No local services are scheduled for Irene J. Carter of Artesia. Mrs. Carter, 85, died Thursday, February 16, 2006 in Roswell, New Mexico. She was born March 23, 1920 in London, England; the daughter of Richard William Baker and Ada Solway Price Baker. On December 22, 1944 she was married to Clarence Elwood Carter in Belfast, Ireland. She came to Artesia in 1945 from England. Her husband preceded her in death June 21, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She was a Telephonist for the British Air Force. Survivors include sisters Patricia Buchert and husband Donald of Yorktown, Virginia and Muriel Stewart of London, England; nieces Linda Daniels, Kathryn Daniels, and Heather Daniels all of Yorktown, Virginia, Paula Jones of Artesia and Bonnie Kilpatrick of Artesia; and a nephew Andrew Buchert of Yorktown.
