Inez Steed

Closed casket services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 13 at West Main Baptist Church for Inez Steed of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Steed, 80, died Saturday, November 9, 2002 at her home. Rev. Walt Isaacs will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Darrin Steed, Doyle Davis, Michael Steed, Jason Steed, Cohen Steed and Gary Standard. Mrs. Steed was born February 5, 1922 in Lakewood, New Mexico; the daughter of Lee Standard and Ruth Patterson Standard. On November 8, 1944 she was married to Sam Cohen Steed in Portales, N.M. He preceded her in death July 19, 1981. She was also preceded by her parents; by brothers Virgil Standard, Ben Standard and Thad Standard; and by a sister Margaret Head. She was the manager of the Sears Store in Artesia; retiring after 28 years. She was a member of Baptist denomination; and volunteered with the Rio Hondo Chapter of the American Red Cross in Roswell, N.M. Survivors include sons Floyd Steed of Midland, Texas, Joe Steed and wife Erika of Hagerman, N.M. and Richard Steed and wife Deedee of Laughlin, Nevada; a daughter Judy Davis and husband Doyle of Artesia; sisters Vera Danning of Artesia and Mildred Pennington of Carlsbad, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
