Ima Stoop

Longtime Kenai, Alaska resident Ima Jean Gray Stoop died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska. She was 74. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at Hermosa Church of Christ in Artesia, New Mexico. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Terpening and Son Mortuary in Artesia. Burial will follow the service at the Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia. Mrs. Stoop was born Nov. 25, 1930 in Slaten, Texas. She moved to Alaska in 1974 and resided in Kenai. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Our mother was more that just a mother. She was our guiding light, our back bone. She loved with all that she was and more. She was a wonderful mother not only to her children, but many others that came into her life. You couldn't leave our home without feeling that warm, loving, caring feeling. Our mother loved and cared with all she was. We love you mom 'momoo,' and we will miss you. her family said. Mrs. Stoop was preceded in death by her husbands, Doyle E. Gray and Richard E. Stoop, parents, Walter Loy and Nannie Elizabeth Crouch, sisters, Lois Downey-Stitch, Lorene Harper, and Leola Downey, and brothers, T.J. and J.C. Crouch. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Geoffrion and husband, Curt; son, Rick Gray and fianc Brenda Landry; grandsons, Coby Harden and wife, Kelly, and James Doyle Gray; granddaughter, Shelby Gray; great-granddaughter, Karley Harden all of Kenai; sisters, Ruby Gooch of Midland, Texas, Altha Crouch of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Francis Giles and husband, Bud, of Clovis, New Mexico, Peggy Rounds of Roswell, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. Flowers may be sent to Terpening Son Mortuary, 611 W. Grand Ave., Artesia, NM 88210. Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai and Terpening and Son Mortuary in Artesia, New Mexico.
