Howard Douthey

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at Evergreen Cemetery in Dobbin, Texas for Howard Leon Douthey of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Douthey, 61, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. Rev. Larry Edward from the First Baptist Church of Magnolia, Texas will officiate at the services. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, Texas. Mr. Douthey was born January 26, 1947 in Devers, Texas; the son of Howard Taft Douthey and Alma Lois Bird Douthey. He served in the United States Army, with a tour in Germany. On July 16, 1993 he was married to Emma Jean Miller in Houston, Texas. He came to Artesia in 2000 from Crosby, Texas. He was a truck driver for Jims Water Service in Artesia. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Evelyn Wharton. Survivors include his wife Emma Jean Douthey of the family home; son Howard Douthey of Porter, Texas; step-son Toby Bennett of Artesia; step-daughter Mary Ellen Curry of Artesia; sisters Billie Priest of Spring, Texas, and Karen Mangham of Houston, Texas; brother Carl Douthey of Onalaska, Washington; grandchildren Dustin Lozano, Colby Sneed, Tony Thiel, Dakota Thiel, and Jessica Thiel; many nieces nephews; his constant companion for the last year and a half was Miss Charli Douthey his miniature daschund. He leaves us with a lifetime of beautiful memories and will forever live in our hearts. Remember love is the heart of beauty... the soul of happiness... the very essence of life. We will love and miss you forever. Be at peace with God.
