Homer Davis

Graveside services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Woodbine Cemetery for longtime Artesia resident Homer A. Davis of Roswell, New Mexico. Mr. Davis, 92, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell. Rev. Jean Riley will officiate at the services. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Homer was born April 6, 1916 in Mason City, Nebraska; the son of William Davis and Rose James Davis. On May 19, 1937 he was married to Sabra Wilson in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He and his wife came to Artesia in 1962 from Louisiana. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and by five sisters and five brothers. He was a retired supervisor for Texas-New Mexico Pipeline Company and member of First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Thursday Senior Men's Golf group. Survivors include his sister-in-law Risby Sattler of Roswell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
