Herminia Lopez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Herminia Alvarado Lopez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Lopez, 93, died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at her home.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Alvino Lopez, Gucci Lopez, Armando Lopez, Fabian Anaya, Pedro Paublo Lopez,Luchiahno Lopez, and Carmelita Lopez. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Grace Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Herminia was born December 1, 1918 in Marfa, Texas the daughter of Jose Alvarado and Bonifacia Garcia Alvarado. She came to Artesia in 1924 from Carlsbad, N.M.

On December 16,1946 she was married to Pedro C. Lopez in Artesia. He preceded her in death January 12, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Herminia was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Third order of St. Francis, and the Christian Mothers. She also loved gardening and cooking.

Survivors include her daughter Evangelina Anaya and husband Gabriel of Espanola, N.M. sons Arturo Lopez and wife Delores of Artesia, Alonzo Lopez and wife Jacquie of Albuquerque, N.M., Armando Lopez and Velia of Roswell, N.M., Johnny Lopez of Lubbock, Texas, Pedro Lopez, Jr. of Artesia, and Mario Lopez and wife Teresa of Artesia sister Consuelo Lopez of Artesia brothers Ismael Alvarado of Artesia, and Jose Alvarado of Artesia 21 grandchildren 36 greatgrandchildren and a greatgreatgrandchild.
