Hermenegildo Orquiz

Hermenegildo G. Mere Orquiz Services are scheduled at 9:30 AM. Tuesday, March 16, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Hermenegildo Gonzalez Orquiz, 206 Cleveland Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Orquiz, 77, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at his home. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raul Rodriguez Jr., Norman Colter, David De La Rosa Jr., Andreas Torrez, Herman Olguin, and Timothy Orquiz. Honorary pallbearers will be all grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Orquiz was born April 13, 1927 in San Bernado Durango, Mexico; the son of Victor Orquiz and Fernanda Gonzalez Orquiz. On March 10, 1950 he was married to Nicolasa Huerta in Artesia, New Mexico. He came to Artesia in 1946 from San Bernado, Durango, Mexico. He was a heavy equipment operator for the State Highway Dept., and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and Cursillistas. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son David De La Rosa Sr., daughters Lucy 0. Torrez and Lupe Orquiz. Survivors include his wife Nicolosa Orquiz of the family home; daughters Frances H. Perez and husband Jose of Roswell, NM, Senaida Rodriguez and husband Raul of Phoenix, Arizona, and Victoria 0. Mariscal and husband Ventura of Artesia; son Hermenegildo H. Chilo Orguiz Jr. of Artesia; sister Maria Arredondo and husband Jacinto of Artesia; brothers Guillermo Orquiz and wife Tille of Artesia, and Victor Orquiz and wife Bertha of Durango, Mexico; 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
