Hermenegildo Huerta

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Hermenegildo Chilo Huerta, 1612 Pine St., Artesia, New Mexico. PMr. Huerta, 64, died Saturday, September 2, 2006 at his home. PFr. Richard Lifrak SS. CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chilo Huerta II, Johnny Huerta, Dale Gurrola, Mark Huerta, Ramiro Martinez, and Jimmy Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be E.J. Martinez, Sonny Ray Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Edward Martinez, Sr., Skye Huerta, and Pat Leon. PA rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. PMr. Huerta was born April 13, 1942 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of Manuel Huerta, Sr. and Lola Segoviano Huerta. PHe served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. POn March 24, 1969 he was married to Nora Jimenez in Artesia. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia. She preceded him in death Jan. 26, 1988. PHe was a Crane operator and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. PHe was preceded in death by his father, three brothers, and one grandson.
Survivors include his mother Lola Huerta of Artesia; daughters Sheila Martinez and husband Edward of Artesia, and Paulette Boyce and husband Jeremy of Artesia; son Chilo Huerta, Jr. and wife Crystal of Houston, Texas; brother Johnny Huerta of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters Betty Hernandez of Artesia, Sally Carosco of Carlsbad, N.M., Angie Martinez of Artesia, Corina Gurrola of Artesia, Helen Huerta of Artesia, and Gracie Huerta of Artesia; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
