Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Heriberta P. Salmon, 504 W. Runyan Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.
Surrounded by her children, the Lord opened up His arms and received our angel on October 15, 2011.
Interment will be at Lake Arthur Cemetery. Her sons will serve as pallbearers.
A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace Church.
Heriberta was born March 16, 1920 in San Jose, Texas the daughter of Nicanor Ponce and Maria Estrella Ponce.
On Oct. 21, 1939 she was married to Herculano Salmon in Vado De Piedra, Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1952 from Loving, New Mexico. Her husband preceded her in death July 4, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents by a daughter a son ten brothers a sister and a daughterinlaw Nena Salmon.
She was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Cursillo Movement, and a member of the Guadalupanas in Lake Arthur. She was also a volunteer at the Senior Center in Lake Arthur. She passed on her great faith to her children, and was always wanting to make meals and feed her loved ones even up until her last days.
Survivors include daughters Frances Torres and husband David of Artesia, Mary Fernandez and husband Robert of Artesia, Mary Lou Fernandez and husband Pete of Artesia, Magdalena Perez and husband Henry of Dumas, Texas, Marcella Anaya and husband Vacilio of San Antonio, Texas, Margarita Mireles and husband Abel of Santa Rosa, N.M., Maribel DeLa Rosa and husband Joe of Artesia, and Sylvia Salmon of Lubbock, Texas a special niece Simona Montez of Roswell, N.M. sons Manuel Salmon and wife Maria of Phoenix, Arizona, Miguel Salmon and wife Mary of Artesia, Margarito Salmon of Artesia, Herculano Salmon, Jr. of Lovington, N.M., Moises Salmon of Denver, Colo. and Lupe Salmon and wife Julie of Hobbs and 48 grandchildren, 80 greatgrandchildren, and 31 greatgreatgrandchildren.
