Herbert Walters

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 17, at Hermosa Drive Church of Christ for Herbert Odeal Walters, 2403 W. Main St., Artesia, New Mexico. PMr. Walters, 77, died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at his home. PMichael Joiner will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Artesia Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Reyes, Larry Cottrell, Doug Simer, and Rhea Blount. PMr. Walters was born September 18, 1928 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of John E. Walters and Pearl Waters Walters. POn Feb. 6, 1947 he was married to Connie Harrison in Roswell, N.M. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia. PHe was a lineman for Mountain Bell Telephone and dispatcher for the fire department. He was a member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ, and the Telephone Pioneers. PHe was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. PSurvivors include his wife Connie Walters of the family home; son Tom Walters and wife Marlo of Sedalia, Colorado; brother Burt Walters and wife Teri of Visalia, Calif.; sister Lorene Walters Langley of Roswell; grandchildren Jennifer Walters of Seattle, Wash., Robin Goodrich and husband Lance of Artesia, Megan Walters of Denver, Colo., Kelly Walters of Denver, and Andrew Walters of El Cajon, Calif.; great-grandchild Tharen Goodrich of Artesia.
