It is with great sadness that the family of Henry (Hank) Lewis Klatt of Artesia announces that he has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief illness. Hank passed away on Monday, March 19th, 2018 at the age of 74 in Lubbock, TX.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 23rd at 10 a.m. in Artesia at Terpening & Son Chapel, 611 W. Grand Ave.
Hank was born in Vineburg (Sonoma County), CA to Maurice and Jewel (Cone) Klatt on November 18, 1943.
He served our country with the U.S. Army for 6 years, serving mostly at Fort Ord, CA. Hank had a love for fishing, classic car shows, photography and he was an avid pool player. He was a volunteer fire fighter, Chaplain for the Artesia Elks Lodge and was an all-around amazing man. He loved his family and immensely loved and served his Lord.
Hank is survived by his wife of 53 years, Angie Klatt of Artesia. Children Kelley (Raul) Dominguez of Pecos, TX, Michelle (William) Pierce of Artesia, Linda (Andy) Perez of Watsonville, CA, Stacy Herndon of Midland, TX and Dan Patterson of Anchorage, AK. Grandchildren Angela Thornock (Jeremy Jackson), Jamie (Josh) Jackson, Lora Demor, Austin (Cierra) Demor, Chelsea Demor, Anthony Pierce (Alexis Fuentes), Andrew Pierce, Johnathon Pierce, Kristin Perez, Nathaniel Perez and Nicholas Perez. Great grandchildren Torin, Gabrielle, Cayden, Christian, Max, Amalia and Xena.
He is also survived by brothers Phillip (Mary) Klatt, Paul Klatt; sister Ethel Payton; brothers-in-law Robert Antenucci (Marianne Gibson), Robert Griffin and Sonny (Jo Lynn) Hope; sisters-in-law Anita Kuperus and Martie Carroll. Nieces and nephews Marie (Michael) Durham, John Antenucci (Jenn Joseph), Kevin (Shawna) Hope, Denise Frederick (Mark Crook), Bill (Brenda) Hope, Kim Antenucci, Julie Nava, Tammi Jensch, Doug (Sara) Kuperus and Stan Kuperus as well as 9 great and 4 great great nieces and nephews who will all miss him terribly.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel, Maurice and Opal; sister Carol Griffin; sister-in-law Linda Antenucci, son-in-law Tom Ryan and great granddaughter Kayley Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Antenucci, Sonny Hope, Robert Griffin, Raul Dominguez, William Pierce, Kevin Hope, Bill Hope, Austin Demor, Anthony Pierce, Andrew Pierce and Johnathon Pierce.
