Helen Rookstool Morris passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Lakeview Christian Home Carlsbad, New Mexico. She was surrounded by her children and the loving caretakers at Lakeview Christian Home.
Helen Rookstool was born April 14, 1919 in Haskell, Oklahoma; to Carrie Viola Smith and Calvin Elliot Rookstool.
Helen married Paul Conley Morris in Shreveport, Louisiana on September 10, 1932.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church Artesia, NM and was a resident of Artesia since 1939. She was also a member of the Elks Does.
Helen was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother to all of her family. She was also a fantastic cook.
She is survived by her Children: Charlotte Helen Mathis and husband John A., of Las Cruces, NM, Paula Jean Roberts and husband Edison B. of Alamogordo, NM, Robert Conley Morris and wife Sallie of Fort Worth, TX, and Judy Kathleen Payne and husband Johnny F. of Artesia; her Grandchildren: Helen Maurine Mathis Maltrud and husband Steve of Littleton, CO., Johnna Michelle Mathis Hafner and husband William of Aurora, CO., Melanie Johnice Payne Bozada and husband Thomas of Champaign, Ill., Paul Calvin Payne and wife Norma of El Paso, TX, Melinda Kathleen Payne Garrison and husband Ronnie of Artesia, Edison Paul Roberts of El Paso, Tammy Jean Roberts Artrip and husband Darrell of Las Cruces, Paulette Calvine Morris Ysasi and husband Ric of San Marcos, TX, Robert Goodin of Wichita Falls, TX, Virginia Toots Shepard of Wichita Falls, TX, and John Shepard of Boynton Beach, FL.; also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Conley Morris in 1994 a son, Paul Calvin Morris in 1959, and her parents, brother and sisters.
Services for Helen will be held at 2:00 P.M on Friday, July13, 2012 at Terpening & Son Mortuary with Pastor Rick Sullivan officiating.
