Helen Kennedy

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 14, at Terpening Son Chapel for Helen Corabell Kennedy of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Kennedy, 94, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at her home. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Kennedy was born July 5, 1913 in Springfield, Ohio; the daughter of William E. Cornwell and Francis Botkin Cornwell. On May 12, 1931 she was married to Walter William Ted Kennedy in Carlsbad, N.M. They came to Artesia in 1945 from West Texas. He preceded her in death April 1, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two sons Larry and Charles Kennedy; brother Fred Cornwell; and two sisters Lucille Harber and Kathrine Williams. Helen was a Co-owner of AD Market and retired in 1968. She was also a member of Community of Christ Church, and the Business of Professional Women's Club. Survivors include her sons Robert Kennedy of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kent Kennedy of Odessa, Texas; sister Billie Burchett of Artesia; brother Frank Cornwell of El Paso, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
