Harroll Robinson

Harroll Dean Robinson, known to family and friends as Dean, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2021 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Dean was born on July 1, 1924 in the family home of W.H. (Homer) and Leeta Robinson in Wake, Texas. Family graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Woodbine Cemetery, in Artesia, New Mexico.

Growing up, Dean’s family lived in west Texas and eastern New Mexico, he attended school in Portales, New Mexico and he is a 1941 graduate of Portales High School. After high school graduation, Robinson enlisted in the United States Navy, and was an active serviceman during World War II. He attended the University of New Mexico, where he met his wife Lee; they married on October 22, 1944 and were married for sixty years at the time of her passing.

After Dean returned from service, he and Lee owned a Dime Store in Truth or Consequences, NM; they relocated to Lovington, New Mexico where they owned a Dry Cleaning plant. Dean returned to college and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University obtaining a bachelor’s degree and received his master’s degree in Education from New Mexico State University. In 1957, Dean and Lee moved to Artesia, New Mexico where Dean was a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and interim superintendent for the Artesia Public Schools. Dean was a member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ in Artesia. He retired from APS in 1984, and enjoyed taking care of his grandchildren, gardening and playing golf. He has hit a combined total of five holes-in-one in the course of his lifetime. Dean was living in Hobbs, New Mexico at time of his death.

Survived by son, Rex Robinson and wife Lisa, of Hobbs, New Mexico, granddaughter; Dedi Hanagan and husband, Hondo of Houston, Texas; grandsons: Drew Robinson, wife Kristyne of Hobbs, New Mexico and Barrett Robinson, wife Brianna of Hobbs, New Mexico. Great Grandchildren; Kinslee Hanagan, Breleigh Hanagan and Hudson Hanagan of Houston, Texas; Sydney Robinson, Jackson Robinson, Bentley Robinson and Brody Robinson, of Hobbs, New Mexico. Brothers; Waylon Robinson of Lubbock, Texas and Freddie Robinson of Socorro, New Mexico and sister in law: Sharon Voss of Decatur, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lee, brother, Carroll Robinson, sisters; Fern Robinson and Earlene Edwards, sister-in-laws; Beth Robinson, Helen Robinson and Iris Pruitt, brother in law; Weldon Robinson, and nephew, Lowell Dean Robinson.
