Guadalupe Fierro

Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 21 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Guadalupe R. Lupe Fierro, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Fierro, 81, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 at her home. Father Richard Lifrak will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Contreraz, Leo Acosta, Joe Palomin, Nicky Rodriquez, Jr., Pete Chavez, David Chavarria, Rey Green and Johnny Madrid. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Rodriquez, Sr., Aaron Rodriguez, Frank Rodriguez, Jr., Juan Chavez, Ismael Chavarria, Nicky Chavarria and Junior Martinez. A Rosary service is also planned for 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace. Mrs. Fierro was born July 2, 1921 in Artesia; the daughter of Jesus M. Rodriquez and Raquel Ayala Rodriquez. She was a teacher for Artesia Head Start beginning in 1966 and retiring in 1987. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 41, and the Artesia Senior Center. Mrs. Fierro was preceded in death by her parents; by a son Benjamin Rascon Rodriquez; by brothers Juan Rodriquez, George Rodriquez, and Louie Rodriquez; and by sisters Margaret Chavez, Ramona Rodriguez, and Victoria Rodriquez. Survivors include daughters Katherine Fierro of Artesia and Helen Jean Contreraz and husband Mike of Denver, Colo.; a brother Nick Rodriquez, Sr. of Artesia; a sister Toni Rodriguez of Fresno, Calif; and grandchildren Cheri Rosentrater and husband Ron, Christina Rodriquez, Michael Contreraz, Remmy Contreraz and Andres Contreraz all of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
