Glen Russell

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 PM Monday, December 2, at Woodbine Cemetery for Glen Warren Russell, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Russell, 72, died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at his home. Rev. Irvin Stanke will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Matthews, Kevin Matthews, Steve Borland, George Creswell, Bob McCleary, Tony King, and Ken Dickson. Mr. Russell was born March 28, 1930 in Palestine, Illinois; the son of Henry Everett Russell and Goldie Evelyn York Russell. On Dec. 24, 1953 he was married to Carol Creswell in Palestine, Illinois. He came to Artesia in 1961 from Robinson, Illinois. He served in the Army during Korea. He was a truck driver for Louis Means Inc., member of the Teamsters Union, and the Artesia Senior Citizens Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Shawn Russell, sisters, Bernice Long, Doris Russell, and Katherine Creek. Survivors include his wife Carol Russell of the family home; daughters Jana Borland and husband Steve of Artesia, Rilla Matthews and husband Danny of Artesia; sister Helen Malcom of Cibola, Texas; grandson Kevin Matthews of Artesia; several nieces and nephews.
