Gladys Davidson

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 14 at First Baptist Church for Gladys Velma Davie Davidson, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Davidson, 92, died Friday, April 11, 2003 at her home. Rev. Rick Sullivan and Rev. Robert Florence will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kurt Johnson, Robert Plummer, Rick Plummer, Sherman Critser, Bret Davidson, and Johnny Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Ramon Davidson, Paul Walker and Jim Miller. Mrs. Davidson was born September 27, 1910 in Bowden, Georgia; the daughter of Lone Jackson Gravitt and Dovie Lee Hill Gravitt. On January 13, 1927 she was married to Sherman Green Davidson in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. She came to Artesia in 1942 from New Orleans, Louisiana. He preceded her in death August 12, 1982. She was a cosmetologist at several local beauty shops and at the Artesia Good Samaritan Center. She attended First Baptist Church, and was a member of the Helping Hands at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and by sons-in-law Rev. Morris Critser and Charles Dene Merryweather. Survivors include a son Ramon Davidson of Newark, Delaware; daughters Ramona Merryweather of Tacoma, Washington, Rahma Lee Critser of Artesia, and Lahvie Walker of Sedalia, Missouri; a sister Marie Cole of Haleyville, Alabama; grandchildren Caroline Merryweather of Tacoma, Charlene Artman of Silver Springs, Maryland, Leonard Davidson of Forrest, Virginia, Brett Davidson of Castle Rock, Colorado, Sharon Davidson of Castle Rock, Cheral Critser of Artesia, Rev. Sherman Critser of Anderson, Indiana, Linda Pfefferkorn of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Velma Walker of Versailles, Missouri, Paula Allee of Jefferson City, Missouri, Belinda Walker of Goodview, Virginia, and Velshera Johnson of Boones Mill, Virginia; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
