Gladys Barnett

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 AM Saturday, Oct. 1, at Terpening Son Chapel for Gladys Margaret Barnett, 1108 W Grand Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Barnett, 92, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at her home.

Walt Isaacs will officiate at the services. Cremation under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

Gladys was born February 9, 1919 in Smithville, Oklahoma the daughter of Hillary Cockrum and Pearl Sharp Cockrum. She came to Artesia in 1934 from Oklahoma.

On Dec. 21, 1939 she was married to George Barnett in Carlsbad, NM. They were married for 71 years.

She was a housewife and a member of Church of God.

She was preceded by her parents, 8 siblings, and one greatgranddaughter.

Survivors include her husband George Barnett of Artesia son Dewayne Barnett of Artesia daughters Faye Brown of Hobbs, NM, and Glenda Ryan of Artesia brother Reese Cockrum of California 13 grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren, and 2 greatgreatgrandchildren.
