Gertrude Widmayer

Services are scheduled at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 13 at First United Methodist Church for Gertrude Morgan Widmayer, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Widmayer, 87, died Monday, March 10, 2003 in Artesia. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be great-nephews Johnny Morgan, Ross Morgan, Bill Warwick, John Marshall, Chuck Morgan, and Taylor Morgan. All other nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. Gertrude was born January 30, 1916 in Pine Grove, West Virginia; the daughter of Ernest Carl Morgan, Sr. and Rose Flowers Morgan. She came to Artesia in 1937 from Graham, Texas. On October 10, 1945 she was married to Burnley Hayne Hank Widmayer in Artesia. He preceded her in death October 28, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers Harold Morgan, Charles Morgan and William Bill Morgan; a sister Gladys Morgan; and by nephews Bobby Morgan and Mike Morgan. She was a retired sales clerk for Hub Clothiers and Main Place; and was a member of First United Methodist Church and the D.A.R. She enjoyed cooking for her family and quilting. Survivors include a daughter Cherie Widmayer of Artesia; a brother Ernest C. Morgan, Jr. of Artesia; sisters-in-law Bettye Morgan and Mae Morgan both of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church - P.O. BOX 1492 - Artesia, NM 88211.
