Geraldine Bennett

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at First Presbyterian Church for Geraldine Bennett of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Bennett, 86, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell, New Mexico.

Cecil Kimberlin will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Hammett, Eddie Guy, Bob Plummer, Sonny Hope, and Orlando Lopez.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Bennett was born March 13, 1924 in Kennett, Missouri the daughter of Lexie Bryan Hampton and Mabel Kathleen Lucas Hampton.

On August 16, 1947 she was married to William S. Bennett in Craighead County Arkansas. She came to Artesia in 1949 from Missouri. He preceded her in death December 23, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Geraldine was an administrator for American Red Cross and ran the Artesia Emergency Relief for many years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son William Bill S. Bennett, Jr. of Braunschweig, Germany daughter Sheree L. Bennett and fiance Robert Smyzenski of Roswell brother Doug Hampton and wife Wilma of Hernando, Florida and nephews Reid and Keith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Arch Care Center Indigent Fund or Vista Care Hospice.
