Gerald Evans

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 29, at Lake Arthur Cemetery for Gerald Eugene Evans (Pop) of Lake Arthur, New Mexico.

Mr. Evans, 75, died August 22, 2019 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, N.M.

Roy Merworth will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Gerald was born January 7, 1944 in Carlsbad N.M., the son of Alton Bruce Evans and Ruth (Newton) Evans. He was a longtime Lake Arthur resident.

On July 19, 1963 he was married to Trudy Parker in Artesia.

Gerald was proceeded in death by his father Alton Bruce Evans, mother Ruth (Newton) Evans, brother Robert (Bob) Evans of San Augustine Texas and sister Patsy (Pat) Carter of Hagerman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Trudy Louise (Parker) Evans of Lake Arthur, brother Harold Evans and wife Ginny of
Artesia, brother Dan Evans of Roswell, son Dennis Gerald Evans of Lake Arthur, son Douglas Bruce Evans and wife Lisa of Monument Colorado, son Kevin Lynn Evans of Lake Arthur and daughter Nancy Marie Evans - Wesson and husband Lewis. Gerald had numerous nieces, nephews, 9 grand children and 6 great grandchildren.

Gerald was a truck driver for most of his life and loved the open road. He worked as a contract mechanic / bus driver at FLETC for 10 + years. He retired in 2004, to plan out his 'gonna do' projects. He was very mechanically inclined and had a solution for all of his projects at hand. Pop is going to be greatly missed by his neighborhood and all of his family.
