Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, March 22, at Faith Baptist Church in Artesia, NM. George D. Young, 90, passed away Monday, March 4, in Gunnison, Colorado. Brother Elliott will be officiating the service. No visitation is planned. There will be a Celebration of Life reception at the Artesia Elks Lodge from 4-6 pm.
George D. Young was Born April 18, 1933 in Greensbury, Kansas; son of Roscoe "Jack" Young and Agatha McGill Young. The family moved to Artesia, NM in 1961. George worked for Union Supply Co. until 1981, when he started George Young Sales Co.
After the passing of his beloved wife Hattie, he moved to Gunnison, Colorado in 2009 and resided there until his passing.
Survivors include daughter Brenda Garner and husband Randy of Odessa, Texas, sons Brad Young and wife "Bert" of Artesia and Shawn Young and wife Kim of The Woodlands, TX. His grandchildren are Christy Abney and husband Michael, Kristen Young, Nolan Young and wife Kristen, Courtney Dawson and husband Sam, Morgan Fiaoni and husband Thomas, and Alex King and husband Cameron. Great grandchildren are Hailee, Lainey and Garrett Abney, Kinley Kennemar, Kyson Palmer, Talon and Jensen Young, Ryder and Penelope Dawson, Isabella Fiaoni and Callum King.
The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research, Shriner Children's Hospital or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
