Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 9, at First United Methodist Church in Artesia for lifelong Hope, N.M. resident George Olin Teel. PMr. Teel, 87, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 in Artesia. PRev. David Brunson and Rev. Jean Riley will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Fletcher, Dolph Jones, Bee Smith, Warren Nell, Mike Casabonne, and Johnny Shuman. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Randy Hart, Ritchie Hart, Kelly Hart, Vernon Crockett, Jim Harwell, Ernest Ray Harwell, Dub Cox, Larry Hendricks, Lonnie Hendricks, Austin Yearwood, Bobby Ledlow and Richard Ledlow. Visitation at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday. PMr. Teel was born November 21, 1916 in Hope, New Mexico; the son of George Samuel Teel and Elna Stem Teel. POn February 12, 1941 he was married to Madie F. Reeves in Elk, New Mexico. PHe was a rancher and member of Hope United Methodist Church where he was recently honored for being a member for 80 years. He served on the Hope and Artesia School Boards for 24 years; the N.M. State Board of Education for 12 years; and the Board of Trustees for Central Valley Electric for 48 years. He was also a member of the Artesia Alfalfa Growers Association; N. M. Wool Growers; N.M. Cattle Growers; Artesia Wool Co-op; was an honorary FFA State Farmer; honorary FFA Chapter Farmer; and volunteered with the Hope Volunteer Fire Deptartment. PHe was preceded in death by his parents; by a son Barry Reeves Teel; a sister Inez Crockett; and by a brother LeRay Teel. PSurvivors include his wife Madie Teel of the family home; daughters Karen Allen and husband John of Las Cruces, N.M. and Elnabeth Grau and husband Wesley of Grady, N.M.; a sister Kay Hart of Artesia; grandchildren Jana Allen, Jason Allen and wife Jessica, Justin Allen, Marcus Grau and wife Mandi, Meghan Grau, and Micah Black and husband Eric; great-grandchildren Mason, Miles and Merit Grau, Daniel Ojinaga, and Cera and Mikayla Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
